This is Octavio. I got him (perhaps sneakily) at Zach’s boat birthday party. Octavio snuck on vacation with Tasha and I. I found him in my purse this morning. We are on our way to Savannah, GA to take in the sights. Anyway, here is part one of Octavio’s tale. As you can see, he has a front row seat in the car.
Our first visit to Chic-fil-A. Yum yum.
Then, we had to stop in Corbin, KY. Becca highly recommended it to us and said we better not come home before visiting Colonel Sander’s birthplace and first KFC.
It’s a bit like Where’s Waldo?
And this was just a little tomfoolery in the car. What else were we going to do on a 12 hour drive? Tasha was a major trooper and drove the ENTIRE time. I DJ’d, the list is on the way. We are having a great time and more adventures to come tomorrow.
Martinis!

So, my mom gave me a fabulous martini book. I went to Target and bought martini glasses and a shaker set. I then went to Jewel and bought some booze. I have been a martini making machine ever since. So far I have conquered Cosmos, Lemon Drops, and Creamsicles. I have also been experimenting with some different recipes of my own.
This one I call: Please do not try. It was sick.
1 oz. of lemon juice
1 oz of cream
2 oz of lemon vodka
Nothing special there.
Next one was pretty good. I call it:
All my favorite things
1 oz cream
2 oz coke
2 oz malibu
muddled raspberries.
Yum yum yum!
I will keep playing and let you know.

Go Wings! and other Hockey Stories.

First- Go Wings! I am so happy they won the first round. Alas, I do not get to watch a ton of games, I do get goal updates from my friend Greg. And, its always fun to razz Blackhawks fans about how wonderful the Redwings are.
Second- I am back to playing hockey multiple times per week and it makes me incredibly happy. I play “rat” drop-in hockey with the ladies on Monday. Tuesday I have floor hockey with a random team that I found online. Thursday, I play the Evanston Tiger’s Spring League Mixer. This has been really good for me for a couple of reasons. I am much more comfortable taking shots now. Even in college, when I was in much better shape, I feel like I lacked some confidence in that area. Now, I just shoot away. It’s also funny this year that I am kind of out of shape. This means I can’t play at top intensity all the time, but I still have a good sprint that surprises defensemen all the time. Anyway, good times.
(Finally, sorry about the lack of posts. I got busy and forgot about my blog. Oopssssss. Blame it on my job.)
Spring!

It feels like Spring!!! Finally. After a long, gray Winter, Spring has sprung. Here is how I know.
-There was a long rain shower on my way back to Chicago.
-The trees are glowing green with new buds and leaves. (This is my favorite thing to look for every Spring.)
-There were daffodils growing along the highway.
-I am wearing sandals!
-The grass is turning green again.
-My sneakers are covered in mud.
-Tyler and I caught a frog. (Alas, we couldn’t find any salamanders yet.)
-I can drive with my windows down.
I love it!!!!!
OMG.

Sorry ya’ll for the lack of posts. I have been working a lot and working out a lot. That leaves me less time to write. Sighhhhhhh. Posts soon to come:
1. Pond hockey in Eagle River, WI. (Labatt Blue. I like it! Who would have thought)
2. Car Stereo Robbery. (Mfers!)
3. Sondre Lerche concert.
And more!
Snow!

So, here in Chicago, we got a lot of snow. Most people were grumbling about it, but I happen to love it. I love everything about it (except the way people drive in it.) Instead of hiding away in my apartment last night, I decided to brave the storm and walk to the coffee shop. As I was walking there, the streets were nearly deserted. It was just me and some brave dog walkers. I approached a dog walker and noticed a tiny dog on a leash jumping up and down through the snow. It was hilarious because the dog was much shorter than the amount of snow we had, and the dog was loving it. The owner and I both laughed at the dog’s enthusiasm. It happened again a few blocks later. I found myself smiling and snow covered when I entered the coffee shop. And then I realized that, like the little dogs, I too, love snow that much.

Living in New Mexico was awesome, but the night life was lacking. Nikki and I had a spirit for adventure and traveling and we couldn’t be stopped. (We also had some extra money because our rent was only $220 a month. CRAZY!) So, we took off a lot. Well, one afternoon while lounging on the couch, we looked at the Coachella line-up. It was too good to be true, almost all of our favorite bands were there. So, we went for it and bought the tickets! We could really only afford one day and only one day’s worth of time. When Coachella 2007 rolled around, Nikki and I left at around 3 a.m. to get to Indio, California. And the pictures shall tell the rest!
And haha, wore cowboy hats! What would you do in 104 degree weather with the sun beating down on you all day. Also, some lady thought we bought these t-shirts. She asked where we got them. LOL!
Cry, no Dan! My love. But don’t worry, I got to meet Dan Bejar in Phoenix for a Destroyer show a year later… Sigh!
Two off of our life lists… My dad birdwatches, I do this. Anyway, we didn’t get nearly as close for the rest, but we did see many more.
-Regina Spektor (So cute and perky)
-Jack’s Mannequin
-The Frames (Once! Great movie, he talked about how it was just coming out. LOL)
-Gotan Project (Tango!)
-The Good, The Bad, and the Queen
-Red Hot Chili Peppers (Kind of were boring after the AF)
-The Arcade Fire (Perhaps the best show I have ever seen. Think palm trees, sunset, and gorgeous music)
We lost the car and walked forever. Think 4 football fields of cars. (This is not an exaggeration.) Our hotel was an hour away. We could hardly stay awake on the way. We had been up for 24 hours in the heat. We fell into bed, and I still remember it as the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.
Damn

It is my goal to post tomorrow. Too tired. Did 5 miles on the elliptical at the gym tonight. Also found out that the med. mocha I drank from Caribou Coffee is like 580 calories. Damn!
A Short Poem

Shawn and I explicated poems this weekend at the coffee shop. It was really fun and made me miss doing that. So, we decided to write a poem over the weekend about friendship.
Friendship
Let me open the door to light the way for your safe passage.
-As you can see, we didn’t get very far. LOL!!! Feel free to add on if the mood strikes you.
