So, new year’s blogging resolution blown. I lasted, um, less than a week?
Anyway, my lunch was stolen out of the fridge at work. Who would steal leftover thai food? I understand the coke, but food that has my germs on it? Come on! Hands off, thieves!

Is what Belinda said as we were stirring up our hot chocolate using my grading pen.
Things that are good about today:
1. School got out at 1.
2. We are writing our unit test.
3. We are drinking hot chocolate— from my new hot pot!
4. I am very relaxed. Yay vicodin.

Well. Now that I am on vicodin, perhaps it’s not the best time to write a blog, but what the hey! So, after 4 days of excruciating, radiating pain from my second to last molar, I finally got to my dentist. (They made me wait!) By the time I got there, I was like, do anything, just end the pain. It turned out I need a root canal (which has a really bad rap) because it wasn’t so bad. The most pain I was in, was before the process when my tooth was killing me. So, they took out the nerve, but that’s ok, it was getting on my last never anyway. Haha. The whole time I was getting the root canal, I was thinking of that joke and cracking up. Now that I write it, I see it’s not that funny, but on laughing gas, it was! All I can say, is if they offer you free Nitrous, take it! It’s great. You spend the entire procedure floating above your body thinking, “Wow, this is really uncomfortable, but I am wayyyyyyyy to relaxed to care.” Drifting in and out of awareness, I decided to give up soda. Now that I am more myself, I am not so sure.
Also, the dental hygienist said I have a, “Wild tongue!” What does that mean? I wanted to ask him, but I couldn’t with all of the stuff in my mouth at that point. However, I did notice a burned looking sensitive spot on my tongue- like charred. Did my dentist burn me?!!!!
Anyway, the picture I am putting up is a painting my friend Tasha made me. It is representative of my nitrous high–and a commercial I kept seeing on tv during the procedure was one with a sea turtle coming by. Each time I saw it, I felt at peace. Maybe the turtle really is my spirit animal?!
Uh oh.

Death. I am dying. Poor people who can’t afford dental care. I cry for them.

Oh my frickin’ word, nothing hurts more than a tooth ready to implode–or perhaps explode. For the past 3 days I have had a sore tooth. No biggie. Today, it became a screaming, throbbing, extremely painful mess in my mouth. I have been able to concentrate on nothing since it started this business at about 2 p.m. today. First, the pain is so extreme that the throbbing is shooting through my jaw, to my ear, neck, and up into my temple. Well, I have a dentist’s appt. for, get this, Thursday! I am not sure I will survive until then, so please come check for my dead body in my apartment by then. So, I read online for remedies, and nothing is really working. Tea bags- no. Icing the face- no. Red cross dental emergency drops- no. Crying- no. The only relief I have gotten is from pain killers and frequent rinsing with mouth wash. Le sigh.
My second frustrating issue is my skin! My eczema is resilient this winter. I have been on my “eczema routine” for the last two weeks, but my skin is still fighting me to no avail. I have used steroid cream, vaseline, and aveeno. I just bought some eucerin tonight. We’ll see.
Anyway, enjoy a picture of my skin and dental arsenal, but be warned, nothing is really helping.
Last Day

And, one of my plants started flowering!
Wish me luck waking up at 5:30 tomorrow morning. Ickkkkkkkk.
Hammies!

Ok, adventures of cooking ham and buying a new hamster! First off, Tyler and I bought a cute little teddy bear hamster on Dec. 30th from Petco. We took quite a while naming him and learned that teddy bear hamsters are known at the supermodels of the hamster world. So that is how Fabio Dweezil Zappa was named. And he is cute!
Also, he ate his first broccoli today!
Next, Tyler got a Christmas ham from his work. So it’s been taking up space in our freezer for a while. We decided to make it a New Year’s Day ham. We moved it from the freezer to the fridge around 8 last night, and started cooking it at 2:30 today. Well, it was not even close to being thawed. Sighhhh. We cooked and cooked the ham for over 4 hours! Finally, it was done. And delicious. I can’t even move, I am so stuffed with ham.
Not the best photo or the prettiest ham, but we got the job done.

I am going to do it! And up the ante, a picture a day for all of 2011! Can I do it? My only fear is connecting my camera to my computer. Seems like a hassle, too bad my phone isn’t fancy enough to post right to the blog. Le Sighhhh. Now to go take a picture.
We reached Savanna, Ya’ll!

Whew, it was a long drive, but we made it. The first thing we noticed while driving into Savannah, was the amazing Spanish Moss! I loved it. We spent the first two hours at the Sentient Bean, a hipster coffee shop! It played awesome music, had cool art, and good coffee.
After our time at the coffee shop, we drove around Savannah and tried to go into the Bonaventure Cemetary, but it was closed. It was raining, so we gave up on the sight seeing and headed over to the Pirate House. Tasha and I stuffed ourselves with sea food and drank like pirates. LOL. JK! (But maybe.) Octavio didn’t enjoy our sea food, but did love the pirates.
We explored a bit more, and then decided to head back to the hotel. We wanted to make margaritas back at the hotel and go in the pool, but it was impossible to find a liquor store. After asking at two gas stations and driving around for almost and hour, we found one. We also had to be creative when we were mixing it up.
After we made some margaritas, we decided to head down to the pool. It was 11:20ish, but the hotel clerk had told us the pool was open all night. So, we headed down and took a quick dip.
If you look closely at the picture, you will see Octavio, but also something else special making an appearance. LOL! Anyway, Tasha found a kitten and mama cat hanging around the pool and was wooing them. The hotel clerk came out and said the pool was closed! Urgh, we had been lied to. We were getting reading to go but, apparently, we had attracted some attention of our own. Two hillbilly Georgians came down to swim, and FLIRT! They were asking lots of questions and had awesome accents. Alas, we weren’t buying the lines and hurried back to our rooms.
After some scary TV (Monster Mysteries), we went to bed. Night, ya’ll!
